A delegation of Bangladesh National Defence College (NDC), currently on an official tour in Sri Lanka, headed by Major General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters today ( 15August 2017).

Naval personnel deployed onboard Inshore Patrol Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command with the assistance of the Coastguard took into custody nine (09) persons along with four (04) Fibre Glass Dinghies (FGDs) for causing destruction to fish breeding grounds and illegal fishing in the seas north-east of Point Pedro today (15 August 2017).

Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 13 persons engaged in illegal fishing in the seas off Kokilai and Kokkuthuduwai today (15 August 2017). One hundred (100) kilogrammes of fish along with 03 Fibre Glass Dinghies and fishing gear used for the illegal act were also taken into naval custody during the arrest.
