Sri Lanka celebrated its 76th National Independence Day with the theme "Let's build a new country" today (04th February 2024). As part of the celebration, the Sri Lanka Navy paid tribute to the nation with a 25-Gun Salute on board the Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Sayura at noon.

The 76th celebration of Sri Lanka's National Independence Day took place at Galle Face in Colombo on the morning of 04th February 2024. The central event, themed "Let's build a new country" was presided over by Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

INS 'Karanj' – a submarine of the Indian Navy arrived at the port of Colombo today (03rd February 2024) on a formal visit. The visiting submarine was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in precision of naval traditions.

In the wake of the shortage of health staffs at hospitals, the Sri Lanka Navy on 01st and 02nd February 2024 stepped up to provide crucial health services, to avoid inconvenience to the public and ensure the continuity of essential services in several hospitals.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera extended a helping hand to a family of a retired junior sailor by donating an electric wheelchair to their disabled child. The donation took place at the Navy Headquarters today (01st February 2024).

The Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) SAIF, which arrived in Sri Lanka on 30th January 2024, departed the island today (01st February), on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

HMS SPEY of the Royal Navy, which arrived in Sri Lanka on 28th January 2024, departed the island today (31st January) on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.

Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris assumed duties as Director General Operations of the Sri Lanka Navy at the Navy Headquarters today (27th January 2024).

In a poignant ceremony marked by a strong sense of duty and national pride, 49 midshipmen embarked on their naval careers as commissioned officers on 28th January 2024. The commissioning ceremony, held at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, was graced by the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.
