HMS SPEY arrives in Colombo

HMS SPEY of the Royal Navy arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (28th January 2024). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Four-storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana declared open

The four- storeyed Sanghawasa of Panchathuparama Purana Maha Viharaya in Thotagoda, Akmeemana, constructed utilizing skilled labour and industrial expertise enabled by the Navy, was declared open by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (27th January 2024). The spiritual ceremony, held amidst the blessings of venerable Maha Sangha, including the Anunayake of Malwatta Chapter Most Venerable Niyangoda Dharmakeerthi Sri Sangharakkitha Vijithasiri Abhidana Thera, was graced by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Vidura Wickremanayake and Minister of Health, Hon. Ramesh Pathirana.

Media briefed about 1927 helpline for drug-dependent individuals seeking rehabilitation

In a significant stride towards combating drug addiction and aiding those in need, a media briefing was held today (26th January 2024) at the Light House Galley, Colombo to announce the launch of the 1927 helpline, designed to serve as a crucial lifeline for drug-dependent individuals seeking rehabilitation. The event was chaired by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is also the Chairman of the Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs.
