Sri Lanka Navy arrested 8 Indian fishermen along with 2 fishing trawlers for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters this morning (19 September 2017).

Making his first official overseas tour after assuming office, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah visited India on 14th September 2017. The salient purpose of this visit was to deliver a speech at the Naval War College in Goa, upon receiving an official invitation. During this tour, he also took time off to visit the Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), in a bid to inspect the progress of the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel being built for the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah today (18 September 2017) made an inspection visit onboard Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) provided by the Indian Government to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

The civil staff members of the Sri Lanka Navy organized a ceremony today (18 September 2017) to welcome the 21st Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama.

The Navy has rendered assistance to take 22 suspects including a woman into custody for engaging in illegal activities at several locations of the country. Accordingly, 16 persons engaged in illegal fishing activities, 4 persons including a woman possessing Kerala Cannabis and 2 suspects possessing heroin were apprehended by the Navy.

The Offshore Patrol Vessels of the Sri Lanka Navy, SLNS Sayura and Sagara returned to Sri Lanka today (17th September 2017) on successful completion of ‘Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise – SLINEX 2017.

The Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) provided by the Indian Government to the Sri Lanka Navy, in a bid to expand its operational capabilities, arrived at the Colombo harbour this morning (16 September 2017).

The certificate awarding ceremony of 19th Sub Lieutenant Technical (Executive) Course, conducted by the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium on 15th September 2017.

The Navy was able to recover the body of a foreigner who had been snatched by a crocodile today(14 September).

The joint tri-services Field Training Exercise (FTX), 'Cormorant Strike VIII - 2017', organized by the Sri Lanka Army for the 8th consecutive year, is taking place covering the Eastern Province. The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene and the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne, PC, were also present today (14 September 2017) to witness the troops in action staging a simulated multi-pronged joint amphibious attack on enemy hideouts.
