Rear Admiral Nalindra Jayasinghe assumed office as Commander Northwestern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (12th January 2024).

In a remarkable display of determination and endurance, the Sri Lanka Navy’s Leading Engineering Mechanic RPSK Siriwardana today 12th January 2024 began a challenging 580-kilometer walk from Poonewa, with the ambitious goal of establishing a new national record.

In the wake of the shortage of health staffs at hospitals, the Navy on 11th and 12th January 2024 stepped up to provide crucial health services, to avoid inconvenience to the public and ensure the continuity of essential services in hospitals.

In a display of seamless coordination and strategic prowess, the Sri Lanka Navy successfully organized a joint amphibious exercise on the Palaitivu Island, Jaffna. The event marked a significant milestone as the 33 number of Officer Cadets included the inaugural group of 06 Lady Officer Cadets. In addition, 24 Direct Entry Officers also received their letters of appointment.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kabra, which arrived in Colombo on 08th January 2024, departed the island today (10th January) on successful completion of her visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the port of Colombo.

Sri Lanka Navy took over the customary duty of the hoisting of National Flag at the Galle Face and Ceremonial Guard at the President's House from the Sri Lanka Army. The Navy assumed those responsibilities at the Galle Face and Navy Headquarters on 31st December 2023 and today (01st January 2024).
