Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya located in Kalpitiya in the Northwestern Naval Command arrested 6 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing practices without valid licence in the sea areas of Ilanthadiya and Nororochcholai yesterday (11).

Naval personnel attached to the Naval Deployment Vettilerkerni in the Northern Naval Command, during a search, recovered 31 kg of Kerala Cannabis in two baggage abandoned in Aliyawalai Lagoon yesterday (11).

As part of that initiative, two Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants installed at Bodhimaluwa Rajamaha Viharaya, Kekirawa and Galbokka Primary School, Mahiyanganaya were declared open for community use recently.

As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Service and Social Responsibility Project which is operated under the supervision of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunartne, the Northern Naval Command conducted a mass scale field health clinic at the Divisional Hospital on Karainagar Island on 10th February 2017 with co partnership of Teaching Hospital, Jaffna and Regional Director of Health Services, Jaffna. The health clinic was organized under the patronage of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva.

Captain WMJB Wijekoon, who was newly appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) assumed duties at SLNS Lanka, the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara, today (11).
