Naval personnel attached to SLNS Therapuththa located in Silawathurai in the North Western Naval Command arrested 21 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized nets in the seas off Silawathurai on 20th and 21st October 2016.

The 27th International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) meeting between the representatives of Navies and Coast Guards of Sri Lanka and India was held onboard Indian Naval Ship Kadmatt at the Indo-Lanka Maritime Boundary Line off Kankasanthurai today (21).

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Gotaimbara located in Pungudutivu in the Northern Naval Command arrested 3 persons engaged in illegal harvesting of sea cucumbers in the seas North of Kurikattuvan yesterday (20).

On receipt of information from National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya located in Kalpitiya belonging to the North Western Naval Command arrested 2 persons who caught a sea turtle in between Norochcholai and Kappalady lagoon area and were attempting to transfer the turtle by illegal means today (20).

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Therapuththa located in Silawathurai in the North Western Naval Command arrested 35 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Arippu yesterday (19).

As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community service programmes carried out with the intention of preventing Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities (CINAC), another 2 Reverse Osmosis systems were installed and declared open for community use at the premises of Kotaweheramankada Maha Vidyalaya and Rathambalagama Sri Bodhirajaramaya Temple today (17).
