Navy arrests a fisherman engaged in illegal fishing

A fisherman who engaged in illegal fishing practices using unauthorized nets in the sea area off Southbar, was arrested by the naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba located in Mannar in the North Central Naval Command, on 8th October 2016.

Navy apprehends 14 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities

Naval personnel attached to Fast Attack Craft deployed in the Eastern Naval Command, arrested 14 fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing practices in the sea area off Illanthnttunu yesterday (8). Along with the suspects, 2 dinghies, 2 unauthorized nets and 2 diving fins were also taken into custody by the Navy.

A person is nabbed with prescription drugs in his possession

On receipt of intelligence tip-off, naval personnel attached to SLNS Gemunu located in Welisara, in coordination with Mahabage Police apprehended a suspect with 300 prescription drug tablets (Tramadol) which were made ready to be transferred, near Handala Filling Station yesterday (7).

On the 70th birth anniversary of the co-founder of the Sri Lanka Navy Special Boat squadron (SBS), Late Commander (VNF) Cedric Martenstyn NVX 5068, which fell on 5th October 2016, Sri Lanka Navy renamed their Arrow Boats as “Cedirc” in honour of him.
