Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest twelve Indian fishermen along with two fishing trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters North-West of Thalaimannar on 10th February 2016.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwenaka in Mulankavil arrested three persons along with a Fiber Glass Dinghy and 30 kilograms of illegally harvested sea cucumbers in Nachchikuda on 08th February 2016.

As part of the Navy’s Community Development Project, the Northern Naval Command conducted a field health clinic at the Karainagar Hindu College on 06th February 2016 under the guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya in Kalpitiya arrested five local fishermen with 2 FGDs engaged in illegal fishing in the seas between Udappuwa and Manpuri sea areas on 06th February 2016.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, is in India attending the International Fleet Review (IFR) organized by the Indian Navy, met a number of participating senior naval officers and held cordial discussions of mutual importance, strengthening the naval ties with the respective navies.
