Four (04) officers and twenty-eight (28) sailors who successfully completed the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Qualifying Course-28, were awarded insignia at the parade ground of RABS Headquarters in Gagewadiya, Puttalam on 14th September 2024. Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris graced the event as the Chief Guest.

As part of another Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) initiative, a blood donation campaign was held in the North Central Naval Command on 14th September 2024.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a beach cleaning programme on 14th September 2024 at Dewata in Galle and Hambantota, in parallel with the International Coastal Cleanup Day (21st September).

The Sri Lanka Navy today (13th September 2024) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana who relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 36 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.

In a moment of great significance, Petty Officer BAD Wijethilaka (Retd), who served in the Royal Ceylon Navy, met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, at Navy Headquarters today (12th September 2024).

The Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) to conduct a beach cleaning programme on 10th and 11th September 2024. The initiative, set in motion in parallel with the International Coastal Cleanup Day, was held at the Sinnamugaththuwaram and Arugam Bay beaches.

A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, installed as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project, was declared open at the Naval Detachment Kirindioya of SLNS Kawanthissa on 10th September 2024. The opening was held under the patronage of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chandima Silva.

The annual Pooja of Ganadevi Kovil at the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee was successfully held on 07th and 08th September 2024. A colourful procession was also held with the statue of God Ganesh being paraded through the Naval Dockyard premises and Trincomalee town.

The Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) on 08th September 2024 held a grand felicitation ceremony to honour Instructor Lieutenant Commander Somasiri Devendra (Retd), the 6th Commandant of the academy. The event, hosted at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium, NMA, took place under the distinguished patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe declared open the Command Dental Surgery Unit of the Northern Naval Command at SLNS Uththara on 06th September 2024.
