A blood donation campaign organised in view of the 72nd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy was successfully held at the Navy General Hospital in Welisara on 27th December 2022.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff today (27th December 2022).

The twelfth (12th) Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral DAMR Samarasekera (Retired) passed away on 23rd December 2022. He was one of the distinguished Commanders who led the Sri Lanka Navy in its glorious history.

Sri Lanka Navy lifesavers won the Masters’ Championship title at the 71st Life Saving Games - 2022 held on 23rd and 24th December 2022. The championship, held at Sri Lanka Police Aquatic Sports Pool and Mount Lavinia Beach, was organized by the Sri Lanka Life Saving Association.

At the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva declared open a new building at the Naval Detachment Anawasala on 23rd December 2022. The facility was made available with a view to expanding welfare facilities for junior sailors attached to SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera paid homage to the Atamasthana (8 sacred locations) and several other places of worship in Anuradhapura on 24^th December 2022. The visit turned out to be his maiden tour to Anuradhapura, after taking the office as 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. During the visit, Commander of the Navy was accompanied by Mrs Mala Lamahewa, the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.

Navy Christmas Carols 2022 on the theme " May your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmases be white" organized by the Navy Christian Council in collaboration with Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and Navy Band was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium in Naval Headquarters on 23^rd December 2022.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (23^rd December 2022) paid homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, invoking the blessings on future endeavours. He paid this visit to the temple, venerated by thousands of local and foreign devotees, after taking office as the 25^th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. During this visit, Commander of the Navy was accompanied by Mrs Mala Lamahewa, the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.

The Navy today (23^rd December 2022) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Nishantha De Silva who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed over 36 years.

The Navy Band and the Cultural Troupe have been the cynosure of all eyes at the Christmas Carol Concert held at the Presidential Secretariat in Galle Face in the evening of 21st December 2022. The Carol Service organised by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the Tri- Forces and Police started on the evening of 18th December.
