Smuggled consignment of Tendu leaves seized by Navy in Norochcholai

The Navy intercepted a cab and seized about 1286kg of Tendu leaves, believed to have been smuggled into the country, during a special operation mounted in Sethapola area in Norochcholai this morning (07th December 2023). The operation also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects in connection to the racket.

A special search operation mounted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the lagoon area of Keerimundalama, Kalpitiya on the morning of 03rd December 2023, resulted in the recovery of about 465 kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves hidden away in the area.

Kerala cannabis unearthed from garden in Veththalakerni, Jaffna

A coordinated operation carried out by the Navy and Police on 27th November 2023 in Waththiyaran of Veththalakerni in Jaffna, led to the recovery of over 34kg of Kerala cannabis buried in a garden. During the operation, a person suspected to be involved in the incident was also arrested.

Two (02) suspects held whilst transporting Kerala cannabis in Jaffna

A coordinated search operation mounted by the Navy and Police in Naranthane area of the Kayts Island, Jaffna led to the apprehension of two suspects for transporting over 3 kg of Kerala cannabis on 25th November 2023. Along with Kerala cannabis being transported for sale, a motorbike used for this illegal activity was also held.

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended two (02) suspects and seized a cache of controlled drugs, during a search operation carried out in the waters off Kalpitiya on the evening of 09th November 2023. A special search operation mounted by the Navy led to the interception of a dinghy carrying Kerala cannabis weighing over 137 kg (weight weight) in the sea area off the Eluvaitivu Island, Jaffna in the dark hours of 06th November 2023. During the operation, the Navy also nabbed 03 individuals suspected of involvement in this unlawful activity.
