Navy seizes 02 Indian poaching trawlers in Sri Lankan waters

In an operation conducted in seas north of Talaimannar in the dark hours of 12th February 2022, Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize 02 Indian trawlers with 12 Indian fishermen, whilst poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

In an operation conducted off the Delft Island in the dark hours of 07th February 2022, Sri Lanka Navy took hold of 03 Indian trawlers and 11 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

Navy takes hold of 02 Indian trawlers for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

In a special operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard, 02 Indian trawlers with 21 Indian fishermen were held for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters, off Kovilan and Point Pedro Lighthouse, Jaffna on the night of 31st January 2022.

Navy continues to thwart fishing practices conducted using explosives

Special operations conducted by the Navy in Mannar and Erakkandi on 17th and 20th January 2022 led to the seizure of 11 water gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, and several other explosive items made ready to be used for illegal fishing.

112 persons held for engaging in illegal fishing

Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard held 112 persons for engaging illegal fishing, during special operations conducted in the Western, Eastern, Northern, North Central, Northwestern and Southern Naval Commands from 01st to 31st October to 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 01 lorry, 26 fishing vessels and fishing accessories used for these illegal acts.

Navy nabs 02 suspects for transporting over 1196kg of dried sea cucumber violating license condition

In a special operation carried out in the beach area of Mohoththuwaram, Kalpitiya on 15th October 2021, Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 02 suspects with about 1196kg and 800g of dried sea cucumber being transported in violation of license condition.
