Navy continues flood relief operations in Mahakanadarawa

As severe weather conditions threaten several areas in the island, the Sri Lanka Navy deployed 03 relief teams in Padaviya, Buddangala and Aluthparagama in Mahakanadarawa in the Anuradhapura district. These teams are actively engaged in flood relief operations in Buddhangala and Aluthparagama, working tirelessly to provide necessary aid and support to affected communities.

The flood relief teams deployed in affected areas, equipped with dinghies, facilitated transportation and extended essential support to communities, enabling them to carry out their daily activities. In addition, the Navy sprang into action to rescue a group of school children from a bus which was trapped in flood water, with the overflowing of Mahakanadara Wewa today (23 Jan 25). Continuing its flood relief operations, the Navy has thus far provided safe transportation to 1988 persons including school children.

In addition, 15 Navy relief teams are on standby, prepared to be deployed immediately to assist the public in the event of flooding.
