The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo today (11th July 2022) coordinated the rescue of 03 fishermen whose lives were at risk aboard a distressed local fishing trawler at sea. The fishing trawler was in high seas southeast of Sri Lanka, about 174 nautical miles (about 322 km) from the Great Basses Reef Lighthouse.

The Navy took hold of over 225kg of Kerala cannabis, during special operations conducted in the beach area of Thewampiddi and Sand Banks in Mannar today (11th July 2022). The operations also led to the apprehension of a suspect in connection to one of the incidents.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehend 78 individuals, suspected to be on illegal migration attempts to a foreign country via sea, during separate search operations carried out in seas off Batticaloa and Kaluwankeni Beach, Batticaloa on the night of 10th July 2022.
