Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 13 persons who were suspected to be attempting to illegally migrate to a foreign country by sea, during a search operation carried out in seas off Sand Banks, Talaimannar this morning (05th August 2022).

The Australian Border Force Cutter (ABFC) - Ocean Shield, carrying 46 illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka, arrived at the Port of Colombo this morning (05th August 2022). The group of illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka was held by the Australian Border Force on 21st July 2022 at the Australia’s maritime border, while they were attempting to illegally migrate to Australia via sea.
