Navy rushes firefighting assistance to extinguish sudden fire erupted in Thotalanga

Sri Lanka Navy made arrangements to rush 02 firefighting teams to Kajeemawatte area in Thotalanga following a sudden fire broke out in the locality on the night of 27th September 2022.

The Navy rushed its firefighting teams to the scene of fire after the Fire Service Department of Colombo Municipal Council requested assistance form the Operations Room of the Western Naval Command on the night of 27th September, to extinguish the blaze and prevent the spread of fire to nearby properties.

Responding promptly to the request for assistance, the Navy hurried 02 firefighting teams with 02 water bowsers attached to SLNS Rangalla and SLNS Gemunu, as per the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne. Partnered with the Fire Service Department of Colombo Municipal Council, other firefighting teams and residents the Navy firefighters rendered assistance to put out the fire that engulfed several small houses in Kajeemawatte area.

Meanwhile, the Navy remains standby to extend relief to the public battered by such eventualities around the clock.
