The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters today (13th December 2023). The operation led to the seizure of 01 Indian trawler with 06 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse, Kareinagar.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (13th December 2023) brought ashore a fisherman who had fallen ill while aboard a local multiday fishing trawler. The fisherman was off the Foul Point, Trincomalee, as he was approached by the Navy.

The Navy apprehended 07 persons who engaged in illegal night diving in Silawathura sea area, during a search operation conducted in the wee hours of today (13th December 2023). The operation also led to the seizure of 02 dinghies, diving gear and about 874 illegally harvested sea cucumbers.

The Sri Lanka Navy recovered a substantial quantity of Pregabalin pills, totaling 6000, during a search operation conducted in the coastal vicinity of Oluthuduwai, Mannar on 11th December 2023. These Pregabalin pills, concealed in the Oluthuduwai beach area, are suspected to have been smuggled into the country.
