Two (02) suspects held with Crystal Methamphetamine in Arippu

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police in the Arippu area on 03rd September 2024 led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 31g and 400mg of Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE), made ready to sell. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a motorbike used for this illegal act.

The operation was mounted by SLNS Therapuththa belonging to the Northwestern Naval Command with the assistance of Divisional Crime Detective Bureau, Mannar in the Arippu area of Silawathura. During the operation, a suspicious motorbike was searched, leading to the discovery of 31 grams and 400 milligrams of Crystal Methamphetamine. Consequently, the two suspects on the motorbike, the drugs, and the motorbike were taken into custody.

The gross street value of Crystal Methamphetamine held in this operation is believed to be Rs. 298,300.

The two suspects were identified as residents of Mannar, aged 33 and 35. The suspects along with Crystal Methamphetamine and the motorbike were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.
