A search operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Chavakachcheri, Palei on 15th September 2024 led to the apprehension of a woman with about 94kg and 520g of Kerala cannabis. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a cab used to smuggle narcotics.

A search operation conducted by the Navy off Kalpitiya on 14th September 2024 led to the seizure of approx. 700kg (wet weight) of smuggled Tendu leaves and a dinghy.

The Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard apprehended 18 persons for their involvement in light-coarse fishing and use of unauthorized fishing nets, during search operations conducted in the sea areas of Kilinochchi, Kalpitiya and Trincomalee on 13th and 14th September 2024. The operations also resulted in the seizure of 09 dinghies and unauthorized fishing gear.
