A combined search operation conducted by the Navy with the Police led to the arrest of 02 suspects along with 10 water gel sticks – a type of explosive, 10 non-electric detonators and 02 feet of safety fuse in Mannar and Shanthipuram on 24 Jan 25. The search also resulted in the seizure of a motorbike used for transporting water gel sticks.

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau, Puttalam led to the arrest of a woman with about 2kg and 245g of Kerala cannabis in possession at Kottantivu, Sinnapadu in Puttalam today (25 Jan 25).

Separate search operations conducted by the Navy in the beach vicinity of Keeramundalama in Kalpitiya and Thorayadi sea area on 24 Jan 25 led to the seizure of about 342kg of cardamom and a dinghy loaded with about 1231kg of dried turmeric, attempted to be smuggled into the country. During these operations, the Navy also apprehended 02 suspects in connection to the act of smuggling.
