A suspect arrested with 3000 foreign fags in Puttalam

A coordinated search conducted by the Navy and Police in Puttalam on 30 Mar 25 led to the arrest of a suspect (01) with 3000 foreign cigarettes, whilst preparing for sale.

Based on information received by SLNS Thambapanni in the Northwestern Naval Command, the search was conducted in coordination with the Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of Puttalam. Upon search of a suspicious house in the locality, the stash of foreign fags (3000) was recovered. Accordingly, the suspect and cigarettes were taken into custody.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Puttalam, aged 21. The suspect together with foreign cigarettes was handed over to the Puttalam Police station for onward legal action.
