Over 1307kg haul of Kendu leaves seized during separate operations
Coordinated search operations conducted by the Navy with the Excise Department in the beach and sea areas of Puttalam and Kalpitiya from 30 Jun to 10 Jul 25 led to the seizure of approx. 1307kg of Kendu leaves smuggled into the island. The operations also resulted in the apprehension of 02 suspects and 02 dinghies in connection to the illegal acts.

Navy’s rapid response brought passengers aboard Perl Link safely to shore
Sri Lanka Navy promptly responded to a maritime distress of the passenger craft Perl Link, capsized at sea on 12 Jul 25, while carrying a group of local tourists from Delft Island to Kurikadduwan Jetty. Responding rapidly to the developments, the Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to evacuate all twelve (12) tourists and two (02) crew members on board and brought them ashore unharmed.

Navy takes hold of a large consignment of smuggled Kendu leaves in Puttalam
A search operation conducted by the Navy in the Akkarayanativu area, Puttalam on 12 Jul 25 led to the seizure of Kendu leaves weighing approx. 1330kg and 300g, suspected to be smuggled in.

Navy seizes an Indian fishing boat poaching in northern waters
During a special search operation conducted in the wee hours of 13 Jul 25, the Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian fishing boat (01) and apprehended 07 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, off the Delft Island, Jaffna.
