Navy takes hold of about 360kg of Kendu leaves in Negombo seas
During a search operation carried out on 26 Feb 26 in the sea area of Pitipana, Negombo, the Sri Lanka Navy seized approx. 360kg of smuggled Kendu leaves.
The search was carried out by SLNS Kelani, in the Western Naval Command, leading to the recovery of 09 suspicious sacks in the sea area of Pitipana. Those sacks contained about 360kg of Kendu leaves, which were believed to have been abandoned by smugglers, due to heightened surveillance of the Navy in the area.
The stock of Kendu leaves was subsequently handed over to the Customs Preventive Office in Katunayake for further legal proceedings.
