In a coordinated operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF), a suspect was arrested with 2,200 foreign cigarettes prepared for sale at a retail shop. The raid took place in Balaluwewa, Kekirawa, on 30th September 2024.

The Sri Lanka Navy seized 02 Indian fishing boats and apprehend 17 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during a special operation conducted in the sea area north of Mannar this morning (29th September 2024).

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 25 persons for their involvement in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets, during search operations conducted in the sea areas of Trincomalee on 28th September 2024. The operation also resulted in the seizure of 05 dinghies and unauthorized fishing gear.

The Navy found a dinghy (01) loaded with about 400kg of smuggled Tendu leaves, during a search operation conducted in the Basiyawaththa area of Negombo lagoon on 25th September 2024.

The Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard assisted an Indian fishing trawler that drifted into Sri Lankan waters near Kovilan Lighthouse, Jaffna, due to a mechanical failure. After inspecting the vessel on 22nd September 2024, repairs were carried out, and the trawler, along with its 05 crew members, was safely escorted up to IMBL on 23rd September 2024.

The Navy took hold of about 1318kg and 22g (wet weight) of smuggled Tendu leaves, during separate search operations conducted in the sea areas of Talaimannar and Mannar sea areas on 21st and 22nd September 2024.

The Sri Lanka Navy seized 03 Indian fishing boats and apprehend 37 Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during a special operation conducted off Point Pedro, Jaffna today (21st September 2024).

The Navy took hold of about 506kg (wet weight) of smuggled Tendu leaves, during separate search operations conducted in the beach areas of Puttalam and Mannar on 20th September 2024.

A search operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Excise Department in the Alankuda area of Puttalam on 19th September 2024 led to the seizure of 810kg of smuggled Tendu leaves.

Separate search operations conducted by the Navy in the sea area from Wellamundalam to Kolankanaththa in Kalpitiya and the beach vicinity of Kolankanaththa on 17th and 18th September 2024 led to the seizure of more than 1648kg (wet weight) of smuggled Tendu leaves.
