About 733kg of smuggled Tendu leaves recovered in Kalpitiya
A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the beach area of Mohoththuwaram in Kalpitiya on 01st December 2024, led to the recovery of about 733kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves. It is believed the consignment of Tendu leaves was smuggled into the country via sea.

Navy conducts flood relief missions across affected regions in Anuradhapura and Trincomalee

Based on intelligence of Sri Lanka Navy, Indian Navy intercepts a local fishing trawler smuggling a large consignment of Crystal Methamphetamine
Based on intelligence provided by the Sri Lanka Navy, the Indian Navy intercepted a local fishing trawler carrying a large consignment of Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE) with a group of Sri Lankan suspects, as well as another local fishing trawler with a group of Sri Lankan suspects linked to this illegal act, on 24th and 25th November 2024 in Indian waters.

Navy renders assistance to transfer person bitten by snake amidst flood chaos
The Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance on 28th November 2024 to transfer a critically ill individual bitten by a venomous snake. The patient had been receiving treatment at the Palugamam Divisional Hospital in Batticaloa and needed to be transferred to the Base Hospital in Kalawanchikudi. However, severe flooding had rendered the usual transportation routes impassable. In response, a Navy rescue team swiftly intervened to ensure the timely transfer of the patient.

Navy rescues a family of three (3) trapped in flood
In response to the flood situation in the Batticaloa district with inclement weather, the Sri Lanka Navy deployed three flood relief teams to assist affected communities in Mawadiodei, Mailawadduwan, and Manmunai areas. Demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding lives, one of the teams successfully rescued a family of three trapped by rising floodwaters in Mawadiodei, Chenkaladi, today (27th November 2024).
