During a coordinated search operation carried out by the Navy and Police in the beach area of Habaraduwa, Galle today (23rd October 2022) 45 would-be illegal immigrants were apprehended, whilst they were remaining in a lodge in the area.

A special search operation conducted by the Navy at the Kakarativu Island, Jaffna this morning (20^th October 2022), led to the recovery of 400 water gel sticks which are used as commercial explosives.

Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lanka’s waters on the night of 19^th October 2022. The operation led to the seizure of an Indian trawler with 03 Indian nationals poaching in the island's waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse, Kareinagar.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Auxiliary Ship A 521 on a dedicated search and rescue mission, this afternoon (18^th October 2022) re-established communication links with the naval craft with which the Navy had no means of connection for about a month, since September 17^th, when it was on a special surveillance operation off the southern coast.

The Navy apprehended 05 persons for engaging in night diving to harvest sea cucumber, during a special operation conducted off Kudairippu, Vettalakeni in Jaffna in the dark hours of 13^th October 2022. Along with the suspects, 02 dinghies and about 10,000 illegally harvested sea cucumbers were also taken into naval custody.

Sri Lanka Navy this morning (13th October 2022) rushed a firefighting team to Periyaneelawanei area in Kalmunai following a sudden fire broke out at a saw mill in the locality.

The Navy apprehended 15 persons who engaged in illegal night diving and illegal fishing practices on 11^th and 13^th October 2022. These separate search operations were conducted off Point Pedro, Ampan and Chundikulam, where the Navy also took hold of fishing and diving gear used for these illegal acts.

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of a smuggled consignment of Kendu leaves weighing over 427 kg (wet weight), during a patrol carried out in Paramunai sea area of Kalpitiya on 07th October 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy sprang into action to rescue 38 persons aboard a distressed trawler, while it was carrying the group of local tourists from Kalpitiya to Baththalangunduwa on the evening of 01st October 2022. The trawler was in desperate situation following a leakage of sea water into the craft.
