Navy seizes haul of smuggled consignment at Kudawa beach, Kalpitiya

In a coastal security operation, the Sri Lanka Navy took hold of 02 boats with a large consignment of smuggled bath essentials, on 15 Jun 26 at the Kudawa beach area in Kalpitiya.

The search operation was conducted by SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command. Vigilant naval personnel operating on the Kudawa beach seized the 02 boats and discovered 30 suspicious packages onboard. A detailed inspection of the cargo uncovered a stash of smuggled items, which included approximately 8,100 pieces of soap and around 8,640 packets of shampoo.

Meanwhile, the seized consignment and the boats held in this search operation were handed over to the Katunayake Customs Preventive Office for further legal proceedings.
