Training Command wins Navy Inter Command Athletic Championship 2022 title

The Inter Command Athletic Championship - 2022 of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 11th and 12th June 2022. Exhibiting scintillating performances throughout, the Training Command emerged overall champions at the Inter Command Athletic Championship.

Navy athletes representing all Naval Commands put their skills to the test in track and field events over the two days of competition. In the 2022 edition of Inter Command Athletic Championship both the men’s and women’s championships were won by the Training Command. Meanwhile, the North Central Naval Command clinched both the men’s and women’s runners up positions.

In the competition, Women Ordinary Seaman LPW Thisarani and Women Ordinary Seaman PAIMP Perera set two new inter-command records in the women's hammer throw and discus throw events respectively. Leading Seaman DMSS Dissanayake won the Best Athlete (Men) award at the 2022 Inter-Command Athletics Championships, while Women Ordinary Seaman GBHB Dharmasiri won the Best Athlete (Women) award for their excellent performances.

The Navy Inter Command Athletic Championship 2022 turned out to be an exciting spectacle with track and field skills unfolded by Navy athletes. The event was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, as the Chief Guest who gave away trophies and certificates to the winners in recognition of their sporting talents. Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area and a group of naval personnel were also present on this occasion.
