Sri Lanka Navy outplays Malaysia in Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup T-20 practice match

In a thrilling T-20 practice match held at the Navy Cricket Ground, Welisara on 08th April 2024, the Sri Lanka Navy team emerged victorious over the Malaysian national team. The encounter was a practice match of the Malaysian national team ahead of the Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup T-20.

The Malaysian national cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka on 31st March for a few practice matches, ahead of their appearance in Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup T-20 which will be held in Oman from 12th to 25th April 2024.

Batting first the Navy put up 126 for the loss of 05 wickets in 20 overs. For the Navy, Ordinary Seaman RADWM Sampath scored 53 runs in 51 deliveries and Ordinary Seaman MVJD Jayasinghe added 46 runs in 49 deliveries.

In reply, the Malaysian national cricket team managed to score 122 runs, all out, in 19.4 overs, giving a victory of 05 runs to the Navy. In the bowling department, Recruit PDRM Madushanka secured three wickets for 21 runs in 2.4 overs, while Lieutenant (Naval Infantry) KLL Shavinda claimed two wickets for 16 runs in his four overs.
