The outgoing Defence Adviser of Australian High Commission in Colombo, Captain Ian Cain and his successor, Colonel Amanda Johnston called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (15th December 2023).

Charting a new course towards maritime security and economic prosperity, the Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office (SLNHO) was declared open at the Welisara Naval Complex today (14th December 2023), under the patronage of the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon. The milestone event was also attended by the Secretary of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and Chief Hydrographer of the Navy, Commodore Kosala Warnakulasooriya.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa attended religious rituals where Alms Giving was held at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy today (09th December 2023). In addition, a Gilanpasa Buddha Puja ritual was also held at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises on 08th December. The events have been organized as part of the religious segment of the 73rd anniversary celebrations of Sri Lanka Navy.

The Rules of the Road (ROR), Rigging, Semaphore and Flashing Competition, organized by the Naval Fleet Command, was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium of Naval and Maritime Academy on 07th December 2023. The event which was organized with a view to honing the professionalism of naval personnel serving onboard SLN ships and craft was held with the graceful presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne.

The Sri Lanka Navy, widely regarded as the First Line of the Nation's Defence, is celebrating its 73rd Anniversary today, 09th December 2023. Under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, various programmes, emphasizing longstanding naval traditions and religious practices, are being implemented across all Naval Commands in view of the anniversary celebrations.

At an invitation of Commandant Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Major General Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 04th December 2023 addressed the student officers of Course No. 17 of DSCSC, Sapugaskanda.

The Sri Lanka Navy recognized the outstanding achievements of its personnel in the Navy Public Speaking Competition - 2023 and the Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Essay Competition – 2023 during a special ceremony held on 01st December 2023 at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters. The event was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and was distinguished with the presence of Mrs. Monika Fernando, the spouse of late Admiral Clancy Fernando.

In commemoration of the 73rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, a blood donation camp was successfully held at the Naval Hospital – Trincomalee on 01st December 2023.

A unique Islamic prayer session took place today (02nd December 2023) at the Jummah Mosque on Chatham Street. The purpose was to seek blessings for the upcoming 73rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, falling on 09th December.

A special Puja of Hindu tradition was conducted on 1st December 2023 at the Sri Ponnambalawaneswarar Kovil in Colombo, seeking blessings for the upcoming 73rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, slated for the 09th of December.
