Director General, Civil Security Department (CSD), Rear Admiral (Retd) Ananda Peiris met with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on 20th August 2020.

Fulfilling one of their desires to pursue a career among the men in blue, a new batch of Officer Cadets of the 63rd intake received their letters of appointment from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, during a ceremony held at the Admiral Somatilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 19th August 2020.

Filled with overwhelming compassion towards less fortunate community, Sri Lanka Navy undertook another social responsibility initiative to build a complete house for a low-income family in Urumalai, Talaimannar. The occasion to transfer the ownership of the property to the family members was presided over by Commander North Central Naval Area on 17th August 2020.

With a view to maintain the pristine condition of the beautiful coastal belt around the island, Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting beach cleaning programmes with great passion. On the sidelines of these initiatives, the Navy carried out another series of beach cleaning drives in the northern and southern beach sides during the past week.

The Navy, with effect from 17th August 2020, is to introduce a new mechanism to deliver medicine at the doorstep of patients who are receiving treatment from the clinics run by Navy General Hospital, Colombo.

Commander Northwestern Naval Area ceremonially opened a newly built wardroom at the Naval Detachment ‘Arippu’ belonging to the Northwestern Naval Command, on 15^th August 2020.

Another group of 30 who remained at the Boossa and Kalpitiya Naval Quarantine Centres left for their homes in the past week, on successful completion of their quarantine process.

The newly constructed two-storeyed pilgrims’ hall (Vishrama Shala) of Muhudu Maha Viharaya in Pothuvil, Ampara, for the accommodation of devotees venerating this historic temple, was declared open on 15^th August 2020.

The new Sangha Council Building of Amarapura Sect was declared open by the Prime Minister, Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa in Wellawatta on 15^th August 2020 and the occasion was also joined by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
