Afloat Command crowned champions of Inter Command Cricket Championship – 2026

Afloat Command secured the title at the Sri Lanka Navy Inter Command Cricket Championship - 2026 after defeating North Central Command in the final, held at the Welisara Navy Cricket Ground on 22 July 2026.

The tournament began with group-stage matches played at the SLNS Shiksha Cricket Ground and the Naval and Maritime Academy Cricket Ground. Teams that progressed from the preliminary round competed in the semi-finals at the Welisara Navy Cricket Ground, where Afloat Command and North Central Command advanced to the final.

Several naval personnel were recognised for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament:

Best Bowler : Commander KGC Pathmal of Northern Command, who claimed 10 wickets in five innings.

Best Batsman : Lieutenant Commander HS Madukalpa of Afloat Command, who scored 226 runs in five innings.

Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament : Lieutenant Commander TSV Peiris of Afloat Command, who scored 39 runs from 31 deliveries and took 2 wickets for 22 runs in the final. Across the tournament, he accumulated 135 runs, claimed 8 wickets, and held 3 catches.

Best Veteran Player : Chief Petty Officer GVMMY Fernando of Eastern Command, who scored 195 runs in four innings and took 3 wickets.

Best Emerging Player : Leading Seaman WGDD Kumara of Western Command, who scored 128 runs and claimed 6 wickets in three innings.

The awards ceremony was attended by the Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area, Commodore Aruna Wijayawardhana, the Chairman Navy Cricket, Commodore Chaminda Ranaweera, along with officers and sailors.
