School students learn sailing alongside Commandant's Cup Sailing Regatta 2026

The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL), conducted a two-day sailing training programme for 33 school students in Trincomalee on 14 and 15 August 2026. The training sessions were held in the seas off Trincomalee alongside the Commandant’s Cup Sailing Regatta 2026.

Students from Tissa Maha Vidyalaya, Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya, St Mary’s College, St Joseph’s College, Zahira College and Sri Koneshvara College participated in the programme. The initiative aimed to promote sailing among school children and encourage the development of a sport-loving future generation.
