INS Airavat departs island following operational turnarounds

The Indian Navy Ship (INS) ‘Airavat’ departed the island on 04 Jun 26, wrapping up operational turnarounds, having arrived in Sri Lanka on 01 June. Upon her departure, the Sri Lanka Navy accorded the visiting ship a traditional naval farewell at the Port of Colombo.

During its stay, the Commanding Officer of the ship called on the Commander Western Naval Area and the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. The discussions centered on several matters of mutual interests.

In a gesture of bilateral support, the Indian Navy provided 04 new Pneumatic Fenders along with repair kits to the Sri Lanka Navy. The handover ceremony was attended by the Commanding Officer INS Airavat, the Commander Western Naval Area, and a group of senior naval officers.

The visit featured an array of collaborative engagements. The crew of INS Airavat participated in various programmes organised by the Sri Lanka Navy, while Sri Lanka Navy personnel had the opportunity to visit the Indian vessel. Stepping ashore to experience local heritage, the visiting crew also toured several prominent tourist attractions in the country.
