Navy empowers Air Force personnel with vital water survival training
Reflecting inter-service synergy, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a Water Survival Training Course for Sri Lanka Air Force personnel. Conducted by the Navy's Special Boat Squadron (SBS), the programme was held at the SBS Training School in Trincomalee from 15 to 25 Jun 26.
The programme offered a balanced combination of classroom instruction and progressive practical training in both controlled and open water environments. Throughout the course, participants, including officers and men, developed essential competencies in water, survival swimming and emergency response procedures.
The training also incorporated realistic scenario-based exercises and a comprehensive Final Training Exercise (FTX), enabling participants to strengthen their practical skills and confidence, in responding to water related emergencies.
The closing address of the course was held at the SBS Training School on 25 June, under the auspices of the Training Commander of SBS Training School, Commander Tissa Kumara, where certificates were presented to the Air Force participants who successfully completed the course.
