Navy launches series of green initiatives to mark World Environment Day

Aligning with World Environment Day, celebrated on 05 June, the Sri Lanka Navy launched a number of green initiative campaigns across all Naval Commands. These initiatives were carried out in line with the global theme ‘Urgent Climate Action’ and aimed to support the realization of the national theme, ‘Let us take action to mitigate the impacts of climate changes’.

The environment initiatives focused on the planting of flora suitable for diverse coastal, lagoon and inland ecosystems, alongside a series of awareness programmes with the objective of fostering environmental responsibility.

The week-long campaigns held in conjunction with National Environment Week, highlighted the Navy’s continued commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
