Inter-Command Handball Tournament - 2026 concludes

The Inter-Command Handball Championship - 2026 was held from 10 to 13 August at SLNS Nipuna sports ground, with the Afloat Command and Training Command winning the men's and women's titles respectively.

Commodore Aruna Weerasinghe, Deputy Area Commander of the Southern Naval Area, attended the final as the Chief Guest.

Highlights of the tournament;

Men

• Best Attacker: Leading Seaman Anuruddha (Eastern Command)

• Best Player: Leading Physical Training Instructor GARB Jayakody (Afloat Command)

• Best Goalkeeper: Lieutenant Commander EH Angammana (Afloat Command)

Women

• Best Attacker: Woman Leading Communicator GBHL Gamage (Training Command)

• Best Player: Woman Ordinary Physical Training Instructor DAKN Kumari (Training Command)

• Best Goalkeeper: Woman Able Physical Training Instructor KUN Madhuwangshi (Training Command)

Heads of Departments of the Southern Naval Command, the Commanding Officer SLNS Nipuna, and a group of officers and sailors attended the event.
