Lieutenant Commander Nishshanka shines in international taekwondo arena

Lieutenant Commander Arachchige Nishshanka of the Sri Lanka Navy brought great pride to the nation by securing 4 international medals in Taekwondo, competing against athletes from across the world.

His winning streak began at the Chuncheon Open International Taekwondo Championship in Chuncheon City, South Korea, held from 20 to 23 July 2026, where he secured two (2) bronze medals.

He continued his success at the World Taekwondo Festival at the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters) in Seoul, South Korea, from 1 to 9, bagging another silver medal (1) and a bronze medal (1).
