Navy boxers win 13 medals at Intermediate Boxing Tournament - 2026
The Sri Lanka Navy boxing team secured 13 medals, including 4 golds, at the Intermediate Boxing Tournament 2026, organised by the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka and held at the Boxing Arena of the Diyagama International Sports Complex from 15 to 19 July 2026.
The tournament featured competitors representing 27 boxing clubs from across the country. The Navy fielded a contingent of 35 boxers, competing in 10 men’s and seven women’s weight categories.
The Navy’s gold medallists were:
• Leading Seaman BHDC de Silva (over 90kg)
• Woman Ordinary Seaman EKT Ariyawansha (under 70kg)
• Woman Ordinary Seaman KAID Nathasi (over 80kg)
• Woman Recruit BMRL Deshapriya (under 51kg)
The silver medallists were:
• Leading Infantryman PMM Deepthiwardhana (under 70kg)
• Leading Provost HMSP Ariyarathna (under 75kg)
• Woman Ordinary Seaman SD Heenatigala (under 65kg)
• Woman Ordinary Seaman PAKN Kumari (under 57kg)
The Navy also claimed five bronze medals, won by:
• Lieutenant LSR de Silva (over 90kg)
• Leading Electrical Mechanic MMD Kumara (under 90kg)
• Able Seaman HNK Vishwanath (under 85kg)
• Woman Ordinary Seaman DGDDS Ariyarathna (under 60kg)
• Recruit MMBN Mapa (under 60kg)
The awards ceremony was attended by the President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka, Dr. Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara, the Director Sports of the Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore Indika Edirisinghe, the Chairman of the Navy Boxing, Commodore Arjuna Perera, senior naval officers and members of the tri-services.
