Sri Lanka Navy Karate Players Secure Five Bronze Medals at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship

Navy athletes representing Sri Lanka secured five (05) bronze medals at the 10th, Junior and Senior South Asian Karate Championship 2026, organised by the Bangladesh Karate Federation. The championship was held on 18 and 19 July at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The tournament brought together competitors from seven South Asian nations. Representing the Sri Lanka Navy, three male and female karate athletes competed as members of the Sri Lanka team and won a total of five bronze medals.

Leading Seaman ADNS Ariyarathna clinched a bronze medal in the men's individual kumite under-50kg event. Meanwhile, Woman Able Seaman PLM Nethmini delivered a notable performance, securing two bronze medals in the women's individual kumite under-61kg category and the women's team kumite event. Woman Leading Seaman KAC Dulanjali matched that feat with two bronze medals of her own, in the under-68kg individual category and the team event.

The achievement highlights the Sri Lanka Navy's continued success in producing athletes capable of competing at the international level while bringing recognition to both the Navy and Sri Lanka.
